BUILDING THE PERFECT PRESENT: GIFT IDEAS FOR THE ARCHITECT IN YOUR LIFE

Wondering what to get for the architect or creative in your life, but want to make sure it’s something they’ll actually use? You’ve come to the right place. Luckily, I have a lifetime of art supply wish lists to fall back on, so you could say I’m pretty seasoned at this sort of thing.

I’ve compiled a few of my favourite fallbacks and go-to products below. Some of these items are tried and true, ‘repurchased one million times’ kinds of products, and some are fun, niche, ‘only your architecture-studying niece or nephew would get this’ kind of items. I’ve included direct links too so that you don’t have to go scouring the internet for anything (it is the busiest time of year, after all).

1. Sketchbooks and Writing Tools

Anyone in a creative field would agree that sketchbooks and writing tools are always a good gift to receive. We are always running out of pages and running out of ink. Getting stocked up on these items is always a good feeling and these products are chef’s kiss.

2. Personalized Gifts

I think most people can appreciate a gift that has a little personal touch. We’ve curated a few items from our shop that we think most architects will appreciate. We have an alphabet floor plan mug to suit anyone’s name, a t-shirt for those heavy metal loving architects, and a pint glass for end of year celebrations. We even made a baby onesie for the person in your life that is both a new parent and putting themselves through a Master’s of Architecture program… not that I would know what that’s like… * cough * I do.

3. Instant Inspiration

I’ve always found that the best way to get out of a creative rut is to outsource a fresh perspective through books. Sometimes, you just need a little dose of inspiration from another creative to get ideas flowing again. Below are some of my favourites that I refer back to on a regular basis.

That wraps up our holiday gift guide. Let me know if you end up gifting any of these items to friends or family. I’d love to hear (or see!) how they put them to use.

Happy gifting,

Dory.

P.S.: For Amazon products, I receive a small amount of money if you use these links. For my personal shop, I do too. It helps keep the social media train rolling…
