We want to create a world where everyone feels welcome to imagine living in a beautifully designed home, no matter the size or their budget.

That means whether your project is 500 or 5000 square feet, we want to design the meaningful places and spaces you’ll live your life in, where your ordinary moments turn into a lifetime of delightful memories.

And listen, we know designing your forever home doesn’t exactly seem stress free (ever watch HGTV?). You’re going to make some big decisions that could affect your daily rhythms and routines for decades to come.

That’s why we came up with the One of One Design Method.

We approach each project with one goal: listen to all of your needs and wants so we can design a home that works perfectly for you and your life.

The first step is sharing your project details with us using the form below. If we’re a good fit, we will reach out to schedule an initial “Get to know you” meeting so we can spend some time together.

This is where we will actively listen to everything that you want and need. We’ll have an easy and casual conversation so you will feel comfortable to share your thoughts.

If we get along and decide to work together after meeting in person, we’ll send a formal fee proposal for your project with cost, timeline, and other expectations.

Upon accepting this proposal it’s time to move onto step #2.

The one of one design method

Step 1:
Get to know each other

It’s time for the fun part where we collaborate on your dream home!

We’ll get the particulars of the building site and/or come take measurements if renovating an existing building. Then we’ll dive deeper into any wants or needs and make decisions about the future space and materials.

Its very important that we understand how you intend to use the spaces within the home so that we can design the most efficient design possible.

Dory will present your initial design to you in person with architectural drawings and 3D digital renderings, and then you’ll have the opportunity to revise that design until it’s just right.

Step 2: Collaborate & brainstorm

Once your design is finalized, it will be delivered to you as a digital file for the builder which will include project details such as:

  • General Scope of Work

  • Cover Sheet with 3D view(s)

  • Door and Window Schedules

  • Energy Efficiency Requirements

  • Site Plan

  • Demolition Plan(s) (if required)

  • Foundation/Basement Plan

  • Floor Plans

  • Exterior Elevations

  • Roof Plan

  • Cross Sections and Details

    Your builder will take it from there!

Final design &
prep to build

    It’s also critical to have someone who will listen carefully and implement your wants and needs. If your architect connects with you personally and professionally, this should indicate the start of a smooth and exciting project!

    Remember, there’s going to be a lot of time communicating, meeting, and talking, so the right architect will make that process as comfortable for you as possible.

  • Whether it’s a custom home or a new addition, our process always begins by fully understanding the project goals.

    When we begin by asking a lot of questions, two things happen:

    • First, it gets you thinking about the fine details of what you want and need in a home.

    • Second, it gives us as much information as possible prior to starting to design, so we can make sure each room and space is optimally designed for how you need it to serve you. We approach each project with only your lifestyle in mind.

  • We get this question a lot, and while the names are close, they’re not the same.

    Architects are specially trained and have the special ability to create solutions for the most complex design problems. They require licensure through their governing body, and ongoing continuing education to ensure their skills and talents don’t get stale. This training can be upwards of 9 years, so you know they’ve done their time.

    Their ability to listen carefully to a client, translate their hopes and dreams into walls and roofs, and seamlessly marry them to their site is unmatched.

    Couple that creativity with the technical ability to know the subtle details of how it should be built to meet structural, thermal, and budget requirements, and you’ll see an architect is the right choice.

    While the fees will be higher, the peace of mind of knowing that a trained, licensed, design professional is handling your project is worth the investment.

  • Fees can vary greatly depending on the type, size, and complexity of your project. Because of that, each project is priced out on a project-by-project basis.

  • Absolutely! We offer a few consultation packages that will be informative enough to help guide you in your decision making process before you’re ready to jump all in.

    These packages are a lower fee option if you want to see what your options are with minimal commitment.

  • We love to help point our clients in the right direction. We are happy to make referrals to contractors who would be best suited to work on your project.

    We’ll never tell you who to use, because as we’ve said before, chemistry is key. You’ll want to have a good feeling about hiring your contractor, as a good contractor will make your project far less stressful.
